KCMC Recruitment Drive
Seven new project scientists have recently been recruited and will shortly begin work on KCMC industrial collaborative R&D projects. Further vacancies are highlighted on the KCMC website.
Two recent additions to the academic team are:
Dr Jeff Kettle joins the KCMC at the University of Manchester. Jeff has a 1st Class Honours Degree in Electronic engineering from Cardiff University. He also has a PhD in nano photonics and electronics.
In 2008, Jeff moved to the University of Manchester, where he has worked on developing organic semiconductor devices and with a spin-out venture Nano ePrint ltd.
Jeff said: “I’m delighted to have joined KCMC as this will enable me to work with the best of academia and industry in the Northwest. I look forward to the challenges and the variation in activities which will inevitable come with the job”.
Dr Donacadh Lydon is a synthesis chemist and joins the KCMC from Helsinn Chemicals in Ireland. He graduated from University College Dublin, with a BSc in Chemistry in 1994, obtained an MSc in New Materials at the University of Aberdeen in 1995 and a PhD in 1999 from Warwick University, for materials chemistry research.
Donacadh said: “I was attracted to work with the KCMC team as a project scientist because it offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of interesting projects in a high throughput, research intensive environment, allowing me to blend my background in materials chemistry with the recent experience that I have gained as a process chemist in industry”.
Leading academics within the KCMC are also regularly invited to speak at national and international conferences and, through them the KCMC offers access to an unparalleled breadth of scientific networks. The KCMC also participates in a range of nationally supported technology transfer events through Chemistry Innovation and other Knowledge Transfer networks.
